A message from our Young Members’ Officer, Harriet Harper:
A Young Members Training weekend has been organised by UNISON’s South Eastern region which is coming up 19–21 October in Eastbourne. This is a great opportunity for young members to learn more about UNISON, network with fellow young members and get some information about the role of a Young Members’ Officer. It’s open to any young members (aged 26 or younger) so please don’t worry if you have not done anything with UNISON before – this is a great place to start!
All of the costs will be covered by the branch (incl. travel) but we only have a limited number of places so please get in touch with me if you would like to go or find out more information – places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. I went on the Young Members’ Weekend earlier this year and really enjoyed it – it was a great chance to meet other people from all different sectors from all over the UK and learn more about UNISON and how to get involved – I am sure this weekend in October will be just as good!
I also wanted to mention about a campaign that the London Regional Young Members’ forum is working on at the moment about how to support young members with their housing needs. Please get in touch if you would like to hear more about the campaign and get involved!
As always, I’d love to hear from you if you have any questions about UNISON, being a UNISON Young Member, anything to do with work that you would like help or advice with, or just wanted to say hi! You can find me on 2nd Floor East at Bexley Civic Offices or contact me by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (020 3045 3420).
